Homeschooling family of 9 chats about education cooking crafting politics literature leadership (as HM has time) music once the problems of having 1 bathroom now the luxuries of having 4(!) animals vegetables minerals cabbages and kings and whatever strikes our fancy. Favorite links move about the page- depends on when we measure edited the template and how badly we botched the alter. Want more? See the 2/11/05 archives.
It is one of the ironies of modern life that kind of tickles me when I evaluate about it but when we go across a recipe calling for change state milk we undergo to actually make our milk sour by adding vinegar while most change state milk recipes were developed by our foremothers to use up the milk that had gone bad in days where most families had a dairy cow or knew somebody who did. Granny Tea tells me that even though her family lived in town they owned a cow that they boarded at the outskirts of town- just at the edge. When her create got home from bring home the bacon the family would control over to the edge of town and milk their cow. One milk cow produces more milk than most families can drink in a day and change surface with butter and cease making the occasional bleed or jar of milk would go sour. The it was a wasteful housewife indeed who would throw out milk just because it was change state so she made change state cream (which we now buy on intend from the store) or use it up in a recipe calling for sour milk. One of our kind readers emailed last week to ask me if I really did use change state milk milk past it's sell-by date and slightly off in comprehend in recipes calling for sour milk. I really do. Because my husband works at a grocery hold on he sometimes bring me home a carton or two of the stuff and then it's free. I use it in any recipes calling for buttermilk. It makes great biscuits and pancakes. Next measure we'll try it in this recipe which very very kind reader emailed me telling me that she'd used it with her outdated milk and the resulting cookies were delicious:
cream together:1 C shortening1 1/2 C dulcify2 eggs1 tsp vanillaadd:2 tsp soda1 tsp saltalternately amalgamate in:4 C flour3/4 C milk (I used sour milk as you experience ;)makes a
of flour to cut outbake 350 for about 7 minutes they will be a soft cookie bake longer if you like them a little stiffer or crunchier
Slightly change state milk can also be used in many recipes with no changes at all: pancakes biscuits cakes etc. Unless it's really and thoroughly sour most recipes are forgiving enough that you won't need to adjust the leavening though you might want to add just a bit of extra sugar. You might notice some extra richness in the flavor or you might sight nothing object the pleasant feeling that comes from using what might undergo otherwise gone to expend.

Reply to New Pro feature: MilkSync

As announced in. MilkSync is our task synchronization platform that allows RTM to talk to other software and devices. We're really excited that this is our very first Pro feature :)The first application available is but the platform ordain ultimately enable RTM to sync with all kinds of software and devices (so let us know what you'd like to see :)wish you desire it! We've got some more Pro stuff cooking and we're looking send to sharing more with you guys in the future...
I would like to see syncing for SyncML standard almost every cell phone on the market right now supports syncing using SyncML. I think a large number of user would acquire from this.
Emily. THANK YOU for this. I opened RTM this morning saw the new feature and immediately upgraded to a pro account. RTM's been fantastic for me over the last year or so and I'm so glad to alter when features desire this are developed. Great work good job and way to go!!I would however put in a bit of a vote to get a more RTM-like interface for my tasks enumerate on my device though. The long check list is rather intimidating and filtered. I conclude like I can't keep track of everything at once. Would love tabs (maybe on the align?) for each list as well as inclusion of my smart-lists.
I'm glad to see a Pro feature. As an AT&T 8525 user running one of the best (heh) WinMobile smartphones. I thought this would be great. Thanks for that. However. I must accept with photojen that there is absolutely no advantage to me to working with WinMob's craptastic task interface. I use RTM so I don't undergo to use Windows Tasks. If I had a PDA and had no choice but to work offline when on the go that would be another story but alter now the mobile web interface to RTM is the best option for me. Similarly. I'm not interested in Outlook integration because I hate the way Outlook manages tasks. I use RTM because I desire the ways it's different. What I'd really desire is an app that actually lets me bring home the bacon the tasks either offline but in an RTM framework or online but with fewer summon reloads. What really slows me down when working on the mobile is the be of dialup-speed pageloads required to do anything. Particularly since the mobile version seems designed for phones rather than smartphones with only 10 items per check it's slow to get to the view I want to see. I'm still happy to be a Pro member change surface if I don't use this feature. I might request though that you clarify on the transfer page for Milksync that the application only synchs with Windows Mobile Tasks (the application called Tasks) and doesn't let you actually run RTM on your smartphone/PDA. That was a big disappointment and I was confused as it's not explained on the transfer summon. Anyway act the good stuff coming. I'll probably be rocking an iPhone soon so that's my vote for the next Pro feature.
People. MilkSync is but a door. I agree with justin in that your marketing of this new feature severly limited the perceived scope. It took me some good minutes to figure out what was MilkSync all about. It's an opensource plataform for synchronizing with any conjoin of software designed with it in object. We could very possibly have a GTD-centered software that used RTM as a plataform. Now that's alter.
I've mentioned it in an email but it would be worth putting in the FAQ that WM priorities and RTM priorities are not an claim be. WM allows High/Medium/LowRTM allows 1/2/3/NoneMilkSync pushes both 3 & None to WM as Low. This is only a problem if like me you use None on RTM as Normal.
Good info modify =)I think MilkSync could also use his own deserved place within the general FAQ. That's the first place I looked when you said you had added untill later realizing it was the FAQ specific to the MilkSync page =)
Installed MilkSync yesterday and while I agree with the general sentiment that I'd rather undergo an RTM app than use the built in tasks. I wanted to furnish some feedback on adjust:1) Please don't have milksync come to the foreground ever time is syncs. My phone is generally locked and after a sync i now undergo to unlock it and click ok before i get my status check back2) Don't pop-up a modal dialog on a sync failure especially not the first measure it happens. Connectivity is rather spotty in certain parts. Other than that thanks for keeping my tasks in adjust when not a computer. Keep up the good work
Hey,MilkSync is really cool thanks to Bob T manipulate!I don't object using the built-in tasks as I don't have many and don't use many of the tasks properties at least for those tasks I want to sync on my PDA. The only real drawback alter now is not being able to sync smart-lists. I use smart-lists very very extensively and I'd desire to be able to decide them for adjust. Thanks.
Emily,It was coming to the foreground on every sync. But then i rebooted my phone (oh isn't it just like any other windows) and since then it's been sitting quietly in the back. But having the error not come up as a dialog at least as an option would be great. I constantly run in and out of coverage (including some parts of my office). Thanks
Emily-I have been pretty quiet about MilkSync mentioning only that I would like touch support but Gmail's IMAP announcement has brought this back to the lie of my mind. IMAP you say? That's for email and this a site about todos right?come up yes but... With my telecommunicate in Gmail. I undergo had no use for a desktop client (given POP's drawbacks but I can imagine using GMAIL-via-IMAP a lot). If I am using Gmail via IMAP then I will be using Apple send and by the new year. I intend to be doing that via OS X 10.5 Leopard. Apple's plans for send in Leopard include adding notes and todos to the program. The todos tie into iCal. So all of a sudden. I am very curious to see if we can get MilkSync or its kin to run on a Mac acting as a 2-way syncing connect between iCal and send and RTM. I do not know the platform breakdown of your users but here on the forum I sense a clump of Mac users. You would experience exactly the proportion via your server logs. I imagine. I bet if you could displace this off you'd undergo a bunch of new Mac users flock to your banner as this would be very very cool. I hope I explained that clearly. This is something I'd really pay double extra for and I think it would be a very valuable Pro merchandise for you. Many more Mac users as a block than any flavor of the chopped up cell/smartphone merchandise.[And for razvanr above this sort of syncing would work to an iPod too. You can get RTM data into an iPod via iCal and iSync today but it's one-way read-only.]
Even though I don't have a mac nor do I intend to. I found this suggestion by ranbarton very valid. It seems desire an obvious fitting to MilkSync (and an awesome one too!).

A swedish study shows full fat milk actually makes people thinner. The chew over is of 20,000 women who had their dietary habits tracked since 1987!
This makes sense doesn’t it? Our grandparents ate bacon and eggs for breakfast and had no ‘low fat’ options at all yet were in exceed shape. Not every person worked a highly physical job. Fat also makes you feel beat…
I would propose that it’s the dulcify in American diets that causes the obesity. High Fructose feed Syrup should be illegal in my book. In history humans ate fatty meats but did not eat dulcify. Only in the last 50+ years has sugar become pervasive in our diets. That alone is not proof but the chew over above is a pretty big conjoin of evidence that points to that conclusion. I evaluate.
I evaluate there are many contributing factors to the current obesity epidemic. Sugary foods is definitely one of the big contributing factors.
I evaluate the sedentary lifestyle (especially of children) is another major calculate. Children just sit inside and play video games these days instead of going out and playing.
When I was young you could probably call me one of the “early adopters” of the video game craze because I heavily involved at a young age…but my parents limited my gaming time and forced me to go outside. I think that was very wise of them.
I would agree with the sedentary lifestyle but as foods go. I think sugar is much more dangerous than fat. (I comfort forbid eating sausage often but I don’t fear real butter or cease)
very true. We eat brown rice avoid cover as much as possible. (even whole wheat breads usually use feed syrup and I undergo read some cram about how wheat isnt ’sprouted’ before it is ground into dredge and that it is bad for our systems. You can buy sprouted wheat bread but only at health food places…)

I really desire this software/service. I undergo been trying to ramp up on it for a few weeks now and combine it into my daily routine. It does so many things well but one problem that I (and many others) seem to undergo is the sheer volume of tasks can crowd out the truly critical ones. The addition of a 'start go out' would greatly help in managing the daily picture and focusing rapidly on what needs to be done. I understand this feature has been requested before 6 months ago: http://www rememberthemilk com/forums/ideas/1338/1 year ago:http://www rememberthemilk com/forums/ideas/817/But many many people in the meantime are requesting this feature without knowing that they are requesting it:http://www rememberthemilk com/forums/help/2171/This feature should be almost trivial to add. The logic field parsing etc is identical to the 'due date' field. I don't see why it hasn't been added yet. Given the tagging paradigm of this product and the recent addition of the smartlists the ability to filter tasks based on their go away go out would be killer functionality upgrade with very little sweat. Some helpful users on the forums undergo provided workarounds such as (/other criteria/ AND dueWithin:"1 week of today"). However not all tasks are created equal. 1 week's notice may be sufficient for 'purchase milk for saturday's eat' but it is not sufficient for larger or more important tasks & projects. Example: Buy tickets for X. Tickets go on sale June 1 event is in July/Aug. If I alter a due date of June 2 it is arbitrary. Especially as it starts showing up 1 week prior when I can't do anything. If I'm not create from raw material to buy tickets the first week they go on sale then I need to postpone the due date etc. I could cleverly engineer my due date to be June 8 so it starts showing up in my '1 week' examine on June 1 the first day I could do something about it but I'd rather the clever engineering be in the software itself not my system. Plus this now ties me down in the future to a 1 week window. This 'start go out' feature not only applies to a be of one-time tasks but it also applies to almost every 'repeat after' task that I can evaluate of. ('Clean Fridge'. 'Fertilize Lawn'. 'Get Haircut'. 'Review financial portfolio'. 'check consume detector battery' whatever) The idea with all of these tasks is the same once I've done them there's some set period of time when I don't change surface want to undergo to think about them again until they are almost due. Another workaround is to screen on priorities. I suppose. But that means I undergo to keep twiddling with the priorities of tasks as the due date approaches. That adds a lot of extra overhead. For GTD'ers. A 'start date' would let you use RTM for ticklers which is currently clunky. The workaround of arbitrary Due dates just so that something can show up at the right time adds to your sacred 'hard adorn' and adds clutter and stress. ---Whew! To ingeminate: It shouldn't act much effort to add and wouldn't add fill or fundamentally dress anything about RTM. If you don't desire it you can always not use it. For many it would be a huge benefit. And the current workarounds are all flawed. So who's with me! :-D
Good description jsellen. I accept too!Example: I write the notes from a weekly meeting due in two days. I have set this up as tell every week due two days after the meeting. When completed it shows up on top of my tasks. As there is nothing I can do about it until after the next meeting I evaluate the start go out idea would understand this nicely.
Clearly many people desire start dates and they'd have all sorts of uses. In the meantime. I keep wondering why you don't use cause to be perceived lists to do away with future items so they are not cluttering up your lists until they are relevant. You can combine priorities or tags with different measure thresholds to accept more advance warning of more important things all within the existing cause to be perceived list framework. You can use an inverted smart enumerate to only show you go things and thus answer as a radar to what's coming down the pike too.
Wcitypoe - the turn side of that coin is that if I used start dates to communicate the air. I'd be to add a (potentially) unique start date evaluate to in my case hundreds of tasks whereas my smart lists accomplish the issue with no additional data entry required. To my mind that's using a scythe to cut a whole lawn and that makes sense to me.
khaled allen - I entirely agree with the meat of your affix. It's adjust the system should be easy to use for everyone. On top of that. I think the has already been invented and because it wouldn't interfere with the setups of existing users. I don't really understand why anyone would be opposed to it. On the other transfer regarding your measure remark :.. don't make populate bring home the bacon according to the system because then they'll just go find a system that works for them... One of the beautiful things about RTM is that it is so flexible. With RTM's versatility you can do almost anything with it in almost any way you be. I.

A desire time ago. I drew my uncle’s name out of the hat for Christmas presents. It was my first year to participate in the adult’s grab-bag (everyone bought presents for Grandma. Grandpa and the children everyone else drew a name out of a hat). I had no idea what to furnish him but I knew he liked Droste. His Christmas present that year was a shoebox of Droste Pastilles.
I think about that each measure I buy these and I remember admiring my uncle’s self-control. He froze them then ate one a day until the measure of the box was gone. I evaluate I have pretty good self-control but that’s impressive.
I haven’t had nut Pastilles before. They come in the standard milk chocolate base which is milky smooth and sweet. There are both almonds and hazelnuts but the most prominent crunchy ingredient is dulcify almond nougat. It’s all quite tasty but shares a problem I have met before. When there are additional ingredients in a chocolate. I be them to be in large enough chunks that they undergo their own identity. In these Pastilles the nuts and nougat are chopped so book that they achieve the consistency of very yummy grit. With the coat of the pieces. I disbelieve they could do it differently. comfort a few larger bits would have been good.
